I did an engagement shoot with Nick and Elmarie on Sunday and I had such an incredibly good time – Elmarie is my friend from work (or rather EX work woohoo) and Nick, the IT guy, I got to know fairly well as this voice on the other side of the line when our network went off, or I had an IT enquiry.. and of course I knew all about the build up to the engagement, Elmarie and I spent many happy moments chatting about if and when Nick will pop the big question. So… when it finally happened Elmarie came swinging into my office, huge smile on the face, with the best news ever. More good news was that she was adament that I will be their wedding photographer! Its such a huge honour for me when someone close to me wants me to capture their day. What is more, Nick and Elmarie will be the first wedding I fly in from Dubai to come shoot in South Africa, after my departure in March. Needless to say, the three of us set out on our very early morning “road trip” with lots of excitment. Nick drove my car, I was the official stylist and hair/makeup artist and when Nick and Elmarie arrived at my door at just before 6 in the morning, they found me still in my pajamas, but NO ONE can say I dont bath/dress in record timing! Forgot to remove my smudged makeup, but that did not phase the three of us… no, we jumped into the car, Nick got the hang of the funny stop start with a button technique on the “monster” as I call my sexy beast (my car) – and off we went.
Sitting on the other side of the lens, and watching the two of them, made me smile. Elmarie, when you are with Nick you blossom into a giggling little flower - the way Nick watch, touch and treats you warms my heart and curls my toes because I know you’re going to be the centre of his life – always.
