Living in Dubai, the very hot desert climate has its limitations, and on many occasions Ive heard “but wait.. you have not experienced the “real” heat yet”… but mmm, I think im just a desert girl, and what is more this beautiful, awesome and spectacular desert we now call home is an amazing backdrop to work with. I am not complaining… for one second. I love it.
Aiko contacted me for a family shoot with her husband, Fumiaki, daughter Minori and little son, Kimihito. Aiko surprised me by suggesting we go out into the desert for an early morning shoot and explained that they have lived in Dubai for the last two years and will be moving back to Japan shortly.. and wanted this shoot to be in the desert, which they called their home for the last two years. Ever so keen to work outside I was excited to meet this beautiful Japanese family on Saturday morning.. at 05h00 am… in order to drive out to the desert for our very early morning shoot.
We had so much fun running around on the dunes, little Kimhito was dripping with sweat at 06h00 in the morning – running around with the kind of energy only a little person has, when suddenly dropped off somewhere he has never been before…
This shot was one of the very last shots of the morning.. very tired, very warm and not in the mood anymore for anything – and no suprises here but it is one of my favourites..
Beautiful Minori…
And this is my other favourite.. every time I look at this shot the chorus line of “if you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world… lahlahlahaah” goes off in my mind – maybe because I miss my two girls so incredibly much, maybe because the mom and daughter interaction just touch me in such a profound way, maybe because its a song I sang to Nicola and Kaylin so often, maybe little girls and their soft inner serenity just blows my mind – but most probably its simply because she is so insanely beautiful and at peace here.
Aiko and Fumiaki.. you have a beautiful family, thank you for sharing them with me
And this is the little face of a little girl having had the time of her life but: okay leave me alone, enough is enough people.. I LOVE it :)
And thank you my love for waking up at 04h00 with me and driving us out there – i will be lost without you
xx
